I was trained to use brush to write and paint when i was a child. but at that time I was too young to understand the beauty lies in the Chinese brush paintings and writings. Recently, when i am getting closer and closer to web design, i realize that it should be interesting and unique to put Chinese paintings into web design. l gathered a collection of impressive traditional Chinese brush paintings to provide you with some inspiration, as well as some knowledge on the Chinese culture.
Chinese Opera
Chinese opera is a popular form of drama and musical theatre in China. The actors and actresses wear very beautiful makeups. Kunqu is one of the oldest extant forms of Chinese opera. And it is the most elegant and beautiful form of Chinese opera in my opinion. The following is a painting on a Kunqu actress.
Fish and Lotus
Chinese character for fish (yu 鱼) is pronounced the same as the Chinese character for surplus (yu 余), the fish is frequently used to symbolize the wish for more in the sense of good luck, good fortune, long life, children, etc. And the lotus grows out of the dirty mud yet is clean. It frequently used to symbolize the purity and beauty.

Peony
Peony, pronounced (mu dan) in Chinese, is entitled of the “king of flowers” in China. It s a symbol for nobility and wealth.

Mountain
Mountain is always a very common topic for Chinese Brush paintings. It brings a lot of imagination to the Audience. People always think that there are Immortals living in the mountain. And Mountains always give people a peaceful feeling.
